Job Description The Washoe Tribe Human Resources Department is currently accepting all qualified applications for all Case Worker positions available in the Bay Area. All applicants will be considered for all vacancies unless specified on the application.

Position Summary:
Under direct supervision the Case Worker is responsible for performing varied technical work in determining eligibility of applicants and continued eligibility of recipients of public assistance through interactive interviewing and fact gathering. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•Performs interactive interviews to elicit information to identify need and determine eligibility for public assistance programs and supportive services.
•Reviews and analyzes client’s financial reesources and required program documents to determine initial or continuing eligibility for Native TANF and/or other public programs.
•Ensures accuracy and completion of application and declaration forms by contacting individual agencies, schools, etc.
•Explains regulations, rules and policies to clients and educate them of their rights, responsibilities and eligibility for participation to Native TANF.
•Answers questions or complaints of clients regarding eligibility according to program policy.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid California or Nevada driver’s license at time of employment. Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe’s Driving Policy. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
