The La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians has an open position for:

Clean Water Program Manager

 

The EPA Clean Water Act Sec.106 Water Pollution Control Program at the La Jolla Indian Reservation has an open position for a Clean Water Program Manager who will be responsible for running the EPA CWA-Sec.106 program that will protect the surface water quality, the environment, and the residents of the La Jolla Indian Reservation and the San Luis Rey watershed. This position reports to the Environmental Director.  
 

The ideal candidate will have the

following qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of water quality issues
  • B.S. or higher preferred – Work experience may be substituted with approval
  • Familiarity with Clean Water Act, water quality and monitoring, flow measurement, data management, scientific procedures
  • Program development and management & grant writing experience
  • Ability to lead and grow the program
  • Able to effectively interface with federal, tribal, state, and local officials
  • Excellent communication, organizational and motivational skills
  • Proficient in office software and equipment
  • Staff management and training experience
  • Able to travel for trainings, workshops, etc.
  • Valid CA drivers license
 

The position has the

following responsibilities: 

  • Conduct surface water quality and ground water monitoring, lab analysis, data management, quality assurance, and develop scientific procedures
  • Maintain a program budget
  • Interface with the EPA project officer and Tribal officials regarding project details
  • Write grant proposals, program reports, and quality assurance plans
  • Work independently or collaboratively with other environmental programs
  • Seek new ways of protecting water quality
  • Work on TMDLs & water quality standards
  • Conduct public outreach and education
  • Staff training and management
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
 

Start Date: Immediately        Posted: December 27, 2009

Pay Rate: $18-$21/hour depending on qualifications with potential for growth
