Position Status: Full time (40+ hours/week), year round Reports to: NIEA Board of Directors Duties and Responsibilities:- Administration: managing the daily activities of the NIEA office, including supervising staff and program monitoring, as well as coordinating with the Board on scheduled monthly meetings, committee meetings and any special meetings, e.g. with congressional representatives.
- Fundraising: designing and executing long-range plans for a fundraising campaign and working with the Board to identify the budget and timeline for implementation,! management and reporting. The ED is also responsible for at least one major fundraising event annually, which may coincide with the annual convention.
- Grant Development and Administration: solicitation, administration/supervision and reporting/evaluation of any grants received by NIEA. The grants must be aligned with NIEA's strategic priorities, and the MOAs must be approved in advance by the Board.
- Fiscal Responsibility: day-to-day budget management for both the operating and convention budget. The ED works with the outside accountant and Board to ensure timely accounting and reporting of fiscal matters.
- Legislative/Policy Analysis: overseeing the NIEA legislative agenda and coordinating with the Board, legislative consultants, and various elected officials and their assistants. The ED assists in developing policy and testimony for NIEA.
- Convention and Other Special Events Management: maintaining, improving, ! and overseeing the annual convention. The ED is also responsible for c oordinating the Legislative Summit and any special events approved by the Board.
- Strategic Vision and Planning: implementing and advancing the strategic vision and plan, as developed by the Board.
Other duties as assigned by the Board President, with authorization by the full Board.Extensive travel is required; candidates must be able to travel frequently on behalf of NIEA Skills and QualificationsAll candidates must possess the following minimum skills, knowledge and abilities: - 5-7 years of mid to senior level management experience with direct staff supervisory and development responsibilities or related experience.
- Results-oriented problem solving skills, a motivated self-starter, and possess a demonstrated legislative record
- Excellent oral,! written and time-management skills and the ability to analyze and summarize complex legislative and regulatory information.
- Strong organizational leadership and staff development skills.
- Ability to handle stress and to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with strict deadlines.
- Experience working for a Native organization, trade association, Congress or similar organization conducting in-depth research and analysis of legislation being proposed, amended, and/or enacted.
- Review legislation and prepare findings that explain the impact on Native contractors.
- Drafting briefings and presentations that illustrate the impact of legislation and regulatory proposals on Native contractors, along with advice and recommendations to management.
- Advanced (i.e. post-baccalaureate) college degree.
- Candidate must have a valid driver's license and be insurable
