PROGRAM COORDINATOR/ACADEMIC COUNSELOR
American Indian Scholars Program

Responsible for the development and implementation of academic, college-going, and cultural programming within Santa Ynez Elementary & Santa Ynez Charter Schools, as well as Santa Ynez & Refugio High Schools. Provides academic services, leadership, and counseling support to participating students, parents, and families within both our school & community-based models. Provides liaison services that connect families to schools and colleges by improving families' understanding of the college preparation and admissions process. Works with University staff & faculty, K-12 educators, tribal leaders, and other organizations to the benefit of participating students, parents, and families. Identifies and participates in development of grants and other opportunities for ongoing sustainability of the program. Supervises a number of undergraduate student mentors who provide tutoring services and assists with program development.
Requirements: BA degree. Strong administrative & programmatic experience. Exceptional interpersonal & organizational skills. Excellent verbal/written communication skills and knowledge of educational issues facing diverse communities.
Notes: Maintain a valid CA driver's license, a clean DMV record and enrollment in the DMV Employee Pull-Notice Program. Must successfully pass a fingerprint background check and have a negative TB test result. Flexible hours M-F. Some evenings & weekends. Position is currently funded until 4/30/11 with the possibility of continued funding.
$3,751/mo.
