Dear Applicant, 

Thank you for your interest in Project Director for the 2007-2008 RAIN staff. The application procedure for RAIN Director requires the completion of this application and an in-person interview.  Applications are due on Friday, May 2nd by 5pm. All applications should be enclosed in a sealed envelope and delivered to the Retention Coordinators box in the Student Activities Center, Suite 105.  Qualified applicants will be contacted within two weeks following the submission of their applications for interviews. 

AISA recommends that RAIN Director Applicants possess some of the following qualities: 

      • A Bachelors Degree completed by the Summer of 2008 from an accredited university
      • Experience working with populations from diverse backgrounds, specifically the American Indian population
      • Working experience with student-initiated, student-run projects, and student groups
      • Student leadership experience
      • Counseling, peer advising and mentoring experience
      • Knowledge of UCLA academic, and/or financial aid policies
      • Knowledge of American Indian resources on and off-campus
      • Administrative skills, including computer proficiency, and experience with event planning, budget writing and management, meeting planning and facilitation

AISA also requires that all RAIN director applicants commit to the following responsibilities:

      • Available to start work on July 1, 2008
      • Work with the outgoing project director in writing summer budget proposal prior to July 1st hiring date.
      • Adopt AISA and RAIN philosophy and methodologies
      • Work forty hours per week
      • Complete designated tasks when necessary
      • Attend and conduct weekly staff meetings, weekly counseling meetings, AISA meetings, retreats, workshops, staff development meetings, Campus Retention Committee (CRC) meetings, Student Retention Center (SRC) Project Director Meetings and any other meetings required by AISA
      • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of AISA and/or RAIN events and activities
      • Assist in the coordination and facilitation of SRC/CRC events and activities
      • Compose a written evaluation on performance as RAIN director at least twice a quarter as required by the AISA RAIN Review Committee (RRC)
      • Attend two RAIN Review Committee meetings each quarter
      • Complete all necessary paperwork to track and maintain counseling caseloads

RAIN Director Job Description
 

The RAIN Director serves as the chief administrator of the RAIN project, the Director's primary responsibility is to oversee and ensure the collective development between Peer Counseling and Mentorship components.  The RAIN Director will oversee financial/fiscal progress and monitor staff log sheets.  The Director will prepare, attend and help facilitate staff meetings/retreats in order to ensure cohesiveness among the staff and project as a whole.  The Director will also provide input on behalf of RAIN to SRC/CRC meetings.  He/She will meet with each staff member and the RC on a one to one basis.  In addition, the Director will counsel and complete all counselor logistical work such as outreach and tracking.  The RAIN Director will also evaluate the project on mid-quarter, quarter, and annual evaluation.

  • Maintain a caseload of 7 students (hours) a week

15/37.5% Chief Administrator of the RAIN Project
  • Act as immediate supervisor to staff
  • Assist AISA's Retention Coordinator in the hiring, training, and discipline of all RAIN Staff.
  • Coordinate, develop and monitor all components.
  • Prepare weekly timesheets and provide signatory for all budget assistance expenditures.
  • Work with other SRC Project Directors and act as a liaison for any SRC co-programming efforts and all SRC events.
12/30% Attend the following meetings:  staff, CRC, Directors, sub-committee meetings, RRC, RAIN & AIR Director 1 on1's, AISC Inter Departmental Program (IDP)/Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC), fiscal, AISA, staff one on ones, PD/RC 1-on-1, Peer Counselor 1-on-1's, workgroup meetings, liaison meetings, and any other meetings required by AISA.
5/12.5% Administrative Logistics: (Proposals, evaluations, staff monitoring, agendas, database entry, correspondence, and tracking)
  Complete all other tasks or duties assigned by AISA's Retention Coordinator and the RAIN Review Committee
40/100% TOTAL HOURS /Percentage
